The Seattle Sounders are currently a member of the Western Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS). They started in 2009 as a member of the USL (United Soccer League) and then expanded to MLS at the start of 2009. They were eventually passed over by the new MLS expansion teams in Utah and Southern California, and they were not added to MLS until the 2010 season.

The Seattle Sounders have a very distinct personality. While they may seem aloof, they are very friendly. They don't mind talking to fans at all, and they enjoy off-season activities like fishing, hiking, and golf. They also love the food and great views of the Pacific Northwest. The Sounders were named North American professional franchise of the year by Sports Business Daily. The team was also voted the best in the West by the Western Conference. The team was originally founded in 1973 by six prominent Seattle businessmen. They were later sold to a group of investors, including former Microsoft executive Scott Oki. They were then sold to Joe Roth in 1982, but the Seattle businessmen continued to steer toward the North American Soccer League. They would later be known as the Seattle Seahawks.
